Hawaiian Island in Trenton

I really don't like giving low marks, since this was my first time eating there food. It was tasty, but something was up with the rice. I had order almond chicken, and chicken rice. Chicken was sort of dry, and the rice was over cook. I want be going back there.

I have ordered from Hawaiian Island for over 10 years. Since the original owners retired the food has gotten terrible. The last three times I ordered the almond chicken was so tough I could not cut it with a fork, crab rangoon were burnt, egg roll tasteless. Food is greasy and over cooked. I am so disappointed !!!! I won’t be going back,,,after three miserable dinners....... and a waste of my money, I am done 🤮

I'd give this negative 5 stars if I could.i have always had a good experience here.until tonight when I placed a carry out order for 3 meals.i only recieved 2.i didnt realize until i got home when we called the young kid who answered the phone was very rude.said they checked the camera and they gave us 3 which they most certainly did not.then he called me a liar.when I asked to speak with someone else he lied and said he was the only one there though I was there 10 minutes earlier,and there was atleast 3 other people there.then he said he dont understand my language which is fine if I wasnt speaking english in an English speaking country.then when I got mad cause he called me a liar he hung up on me 3 times. Extremely unprofessional jerk.

The meals are a great value and great food

Edit** The food has been really good the past few times we were there. Changing my review to 5 stars** Used to be the best Chinese place downriver in our familie's opinion. Now the food is really bland and not the same. Staff is absolutely wonderful though! Always very kind!

Best Sweet n sour chicken & chicken fried rice with some of the nicest owners I've got to know eating there for over 20 years now

Really good mix of Cantonese foods. Always tastes great. You get alot for your money. This place is in an out of the way spot so it is rarely busy. It is worth the drive. It is casual but so are the prices. Fair tradeoff.

Love Hawaiian Islands... Everytime we're up from Ohio we stop and get food... Excellent

I used to work there as a waitress and it was severely unsanitary. The soup ingredients was grabbed with hands, tho their are signs saying wash your hands it was never enforced so no one did. they take left over soup crackers from other tables and re serve them

Used to love this place...not now. Smaller portions..overpriced..dirty. owners seem to be riding on old owners ratings.

To top it I got shrimp egg foo and one shrimp! Paid for sweet and sour shrimp and got three shrimp! Been going here since I was 8 I’m 42. I will go to the chain Panda Express from here in out!

I loved this place until new owners my first try was burnt shrimp friend rice which I didn’t eat and paid for my second experience today I had 6 shrimp In my rice I just put it in the garbage I need a new Chinese restaurant for sure.

I love the dish Hawaiian Island.A clean sample of so many foods.

Lunch combination specials are good

After my last visit I question the sanitation of this place. I saw an Asian women collecting the used won ton noodles off of tables and re-serving them. Sort of makes me wonder if maybe to go dinners are the left overs cleared off of tables.

The new owners have improved the meals even more if you can believe, you don't go away hungry.

WHAT HAPPENED??!!!!This place used to be the best Chinese restaurant downriver but not anymore! The food is bland. Greasy egg rolls. Rice was served lukewarm. We all got stomach aches after we ate there. They must have new owners. We are never going back again!

Horrible. Our order was totally wrong and called to tell them and they said the hunan chicken and sweet and sour chicken were the same thing? We got two containers of fried chicken with one small little side of sauce for 40 dollars. Also, the wonton soup had gross pieces of chicken in it. I will never go back.

Service here was wonderful and very fast. The workers and owner are so nice and pleasant. My favorite place to eat at and the rice is the bomb. 100% recommend to everyone.

Ate here for the first time Sunday 12/8/19. Was impressed with buffet. Very reasonable price and quality of food was good. 2 ladies working were friendly, efficient, and everything was as well as expected. I will go again!

The food is good. But..the food was packed so horribly that spilled it every where before I took it out from the bag. Please note... You can not fill a styrofoam box to the brim with heavy food and sauce then pack on top of that a heavy quart of low mein...and eggrolls with a tiny piece of card board between. It does not work. I am very disapointed in this sloppy mess that I recieved tonight.

Maybe worst Chinese restaurant experience food wise ever!! Service is fine but all chicken entrees are served the same way. Fried with orange sauce, sesame etc. Fried rice tasted burnt.

Worst place I've ever been to in my life. Workers hangup on you when they mess your order up . They refuse to make it right by replacing it or getting any kind of refund . They wonder why there restaurant is empty. That is why. Learn how to treat your customers with some kind of respect.

This is my favorite Asian food restaurant. Nobody does almond chicken like them. I compare every other Asian restaurant to Hawaiian Island. The rice is delicious. The pepper steak is good. The almond cookies are a great meal ender. The meals are so large you won't be able to finish in one sitting. The staff is always great. I've been going since I was little, so like 25 years and I don't plan on stopping. Go there, get a combo plate and thank me later.Enjoy

I've dined in as well as taken out on a number of occasions and the food is always well priced for large portions. Every staff member I've spoken with on the phone or in person are very sweet and helpful. I've asked a couple of questions and when they didn't know they were honest and got me answers in a very timely manner. Will definitely keep going back for more. Wonderful place!

Last 2 times we got carry out the food was horrible, it was a waste of money. We will not be getting carry out again from here, was hoping maybe just got them on a bad night so decided to try them again and had the same outcome, and its a shame this use to be a great place for Chinese food years ago....

Food is okay. I ordered take out and got really rude phone service from a lady with no accent. Seemed frustrated when I asked what kind of noodles they had and after I said that I had completed my order she hung up on me without so much as a good bye or thank you or see you soon.

Food good but I have ordered something 3 times that has lobster and had one or two pieces and 2 days ago ordered imperial lo mein that is supposed to have lobster and not one piece at all! Not good being the coat is higher when it contains lobster!!
